Guinea pigs might eat similar food to rabbits; however, There is a very importannce difference in rabbit and guinea pig food . Guinea pigs are pure vegans; they will eat almost every vegetable you will put in front of them. However, the correct food for guinea pigs should contain fresh fruits and vegetables, hay, water and salt to maintain good health. Most importantly guinea pigs can’t synthesise Vitamin C, so they need to get that from their daily food. The fresh vegetables and fruits you can give them are apples, watermelon, strawberries, cauliflower, celery tips, clover, maize, dandelion, lettuce, grass clippings, spinach, beet, and tomatoes. The only vegetables they don’t like are onions, peppers, and potatoes. Aside from fresh food the correct food for guinea pigs can also contain dry food, especially in winter, when finding fresh vegetables is not that easy. These could be hay, oats, corn, barley and dry bread. Finally, for supplying additional Vitamin C, you can add it in drops to the water supply.
